VIVA PUNTI -- Long Live the Stitches!! RESERVE YOUR ROOM Hope you sent your registration in for Viva Punti! for May 2-3, 2013. Now make your hotel reservations -- Hilton Grand Vacation Club in Orlando, FL (866-782-9442). I am getting the IRC contribution to your Goodie Bag ready and looking into local wine and candies for the Ring Toss prize. If you haven't registered, send it in today. Officially registration closes Feb. 4th, but you may be able to squeek into a class. Contact me if you have any questions.
Join the meeting
The next Region meeting will be April 5-7, 2013, in Jacksonville at the Embassy Suites Baymeadows. There is a nice needlework/yarn shop in this area and a couple of bead shops, in addition to the one in New Smyrna just off the freeway. Anyone up for a road trip. You'll have the opportunity to get stitching done while you're there. The evening program will be presented by Pat Maeda of Maeda Imports on Furoshiki Fabric Wrapping and Tieing. This is a unique, no sew method of tieing fabric to make changeable purses, or attractive and unique package wraps. Come have some fun for an evening and learn a new technique.
Future events
The Sun Region event for 2014 is a retreat, “Crystal River Stitching,” at the Plantation Inn in Crystal River. Start thinking
about it. I’m told the facility has been remodeled since EGA was last there and sounds like fun—like Celebration was.
A planning team was formed to start working on the 2014 and 2015 events. If you are interested in working with the teams for either 2014 or 2015, please contact Jan Clark.
EGA National Seminar is Oct. 5 - 11, 2013 in Louisville. Look on-line for classes, registration, etc. Remember, to open the members portion of
EGA, username is your Membership Number and password is WEareEGA (case sensitive).
Speaking of websites, I strongly suggest that you visit both the National
EGA website and Sun Region website.
Upcoming Events
Education Grants for Chapters
The region will once again allocate $100 to a chapter for a workshop with a qualified teacher or to offset part of the cost of GCC registration. This is a good opportunity to get a special class in for the chapter at very little cost. Let's think about what we want to do in the coming year. Who knows, we may even be able to get 2 classes. Let's do it.
